College of Applied Sciences, Agali, Attappady


The College of Applied Sciences, Agali, Attappady was established in 2011 by the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD), an autonomous educational institution under the Government of Kerala. The college is affiliated with the University of Calicut.

Located in the tribal region of Attappady in the Palakkad district, the college is committed to the development of quality manpower through education and training in key areas such as Information Technology, Commerce, Management, and other emerging disciplines. Its primary mission is to serve the educational needs of the rural and tribal communities in the region.

In addition to undergraduate programs, the college also offers various certificate and diploma courses such as PGDCA, DDT&OA, DCA, and CCLIS conducted by IHRD along with courses under PM Viswakarma Schemes under Govt.of India and National institute of Electronics and information Technology (NIELIT).

The College was founded with a vision to provide quality education in rural areas. It has since established a conducive learning environment, supported by state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, and is recognized for its consistent academic excellence.

Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD)

The Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) is an autonomous educational institution established by the Government of Kerala in 1987. It is registered under the Travancore–Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955 (Act 12 of 1955). The governance of the institute is entrusted to a Governing Body, with the Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Government of Kerala, serving as Chairman, and the Chief Secretary to the Government of Kerala as Vice Chairman.

IHRD is committed to the scientific, technological, and economic advancement of the nation through the development of human resources. Guided by the philosophy, “Think Globally, Act Locally,” the institute aims to promote national welfare by offering high-quality education and training that addresses both current and emerging societal needs.

Since its inception in the late 1980s with a handful of institutions, IHRD has grown into a vast educational network across Kerala. Today, it oversees 93 institutions, which include:

Through its diverse institutions and innovative programmes, IHRD continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a skilled, knowledgeable, and future-ready workforce for the State as well as for the Nation.
