Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Hon’ble Governor of Kerala.

Shri RajendraVishwanathArlekar assumed office as the 23rd Governor of Kerala on January 2, 2025. Born on April 23, 1954, in Panaji, Goa, he completed his education at St. Joseph’s Institute and earned a B.Com. from MES College, Vasco da Gama.

A lifelong public servant, Shri Arlekar began his political journey through the RSS and joined the BJP in 1989, later serving as Goa BJP State President. He was imprisoned during the Emergency (1975–77) for standing up for democratic values.

He served as a Member of the Goa Legislative Assembly (2002–2007) and was Speaker from 2012 to 2017, during which Goa’s Assembly became India’s first to go paperless. He also held ministerial roles for Forests, Environment, and Panchayati Raj.

Shri Arlekar was the 21st Governor of Himachal Pradesh (2021–2023) and the 30th Governor of Bihar (2023) before taking office in Kerala.
