The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship community service programme initiated by the Government of India in 1969, functioning under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It aims to develop the personality of students through community service and to instill a sense of social responsibility, discipline, and commitment to the nation.

At the College of Applied Science, Agali, NSS Unit No. 38 functions under the NSS Cell of the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD). The unit plays a vital role in shaping socially responsible citizens by actively engaging volunteers in a wide range of activities focused on community development and nation-building.

Objectives

To foster a spirit of volunteerism and community involvement among students

Major Activities of NSS Unit No. 38

  • Adoption of Local Communities for focused development and outreach
  • Cleanliness Drives in public spaces, educational institutions, and nearby villages
  • Blood Donation Camps and creation of a volunteer donor database
  • Awareness Campaigns on social, health, and environmental issues such as AIDS, drug abuse, gender equality, and sanitation
  • Environmental Protection Initiatives like tree plantation and plastic-free campaigns
  • Observation of National and International Days (e.g., NSS Day, Independence Day, World Environment Day)
  • Leadership and Personality Development Workshops
  • Participation in State and National Level Camps

NSS Unit No. 38 at CAS Agali has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to serving society and empowering students through hands-on experience in real-world challenges.
